BROW LIFT

There are a number of changes that occur on the face during ageing, and the eye area often displays these changes first. As well as wrinkles, droopy eyelids, dark circles and eye bags, the eyebrows can change their positioning slightly as they begin to sit nearer to the eyes. Known as ‘fallen brows’ this condition can add to the development of a tired appearance causing a person to seek a treatment that works to lift the brow and restore the eyes’ youthful look.

The REAL Clinic will always need your consent before going ahead with any procedure. Your journey begins with a pre-treatment consultation, which will help you to understand the recommended procedure and gives you the opportunity to address any queries or concerns. A brow lift (also known as a forehead lift) will be approached according to your needs and the results that can be achieved. An incision made along the hairline will allow your surgeon to reposition the skin on your forehead, along with your eyebrows.
In some cases the underlying tissues are also remodelled and the muscles may be tightened.

Our treatments for the face and eyes are carried out under general anaesthetic. Here at The REAL Clinic we use total intravenous anaesthesia as it has greater potential benefits compared to other forms of anaesthesia. Intravenous anaesthesia is more rapid in onset, and elimination which allows for speedier recovery. Further benefits include; increased haemodynamic stability (stabilised blood flow), decreased risk of organ toxicity, decrease in surgical haemostasis (bleeding), reduced risk of postoperative nausea and vomiting, and improved, more predictable recovery.

QUESTIONS OFTEN ASKED ABOUT BROW LIFT

  • What risks are associated with a brow lift?

Undergoing surgery will always carry a degree of risk, including: infection, temporary numbness, asymmetric brows, bleeding or nerve injury. After the procedure you can expect to experience swelling, bruising, tenderness and redness on the forehead. Your recovery is expected to take around 4 weeks, and our follow-up appointments will explain the best time to resume other activities (such as exercising), as well as how to take care of your wounds as they heal.

  • What results can I expect?

Lifting the eyebrows and the skin on the forehead can open up the eye area and create a rested look to the upper face. The results can appear immediately after the procedure, however, the final outcome will be apparent once the initial side effects have subsided (4 – 6 weeks). Treating this area of the face can often have a significant effect as it appears to also help rejuvenate the entire facial profile.
