MISSHAPEN NOSE

CONDITION

MISSHAPEN NOSE

A misshapen nose is a common complaint that is often of aesthetic concern as opposed to medical, although the latter can occur (breathing difficulties or pain, when the condition is severe or as a result of trauma or injury).

The shape of our nose is normally determined before we are even born, as genetics tend to play a large role in our physical appearance.

The term misshapen nose can relate to all manner of irregularities, such as; crooked nose, bump on the nose (also known as a dorsal hump), big nose, hook nose or large nose. The severity and shape of a misshapen nose will be different from person to person but is usually caused by irregularities in the skin, bones, or cartilage.

When injury is the primary factor, the cartilage or bone have been injured. Therefore, the healing and scarring process promotes calcium deposits from the site of the injury causing the nose to become misshapen, bumpy or flat.

A misshapen nose can easily be addressed without the need for surgical intervention, through strategically placed dermal fillers that can help to give a more aesthetically pleasing profile to the nose and balance out any dips or bumps.

'One of the most common concerns I hear from patients is about hooded upper eyelids, giving them an aged and tired appearance that is completely at odds with how they feel. The great news is that a blepharoplasty procedure on the eyelids can be hugely helpful at a relatively low cost and short recovery time.'
