DULL, DRY SKIN

DULL, DRY SKIN

There can be a number of reasons that we may develop skin that appears dry or dull.

As a person ages, the skin naturally begins to produce less sebum and loses its radiance as dead skin cells begin to accumulate on the face. Skin can also begin to lack hyaluronic acid, which helps maintain adequate hydration levels, and therefore the skin begins to dry out.

Drinking plenty of water and eating a healthy diet can definitely contribute to brighter a complexion and staying hydrated. Lifestyle habits, such as smoking and drinking alcohol, can also cause skin to become dehydrated. This contributes to dull skin, as well as changes in the size and texture of pores.

Regular cleansing and exfoliation is essential to remove dead skin cells so that they don’t block the pores and result in a deadened complexion. There are a number of treatments that support the process of exfoliation and hydration, like the Hydrafacial or Chemical Peels which can improve the overall appearance and condition of the skin for a youthful and vibrant appearance.

'One of the most common concerns I hear from patients is about hooded upper eyelids, giving them an aged and tired appearance that is completely at odds with how they feel. The great news is that a blepharoplasty procedure on the eyelids can be hugely helpful at a relatively low cost and short recovery time.'
