FOREHEAD LINES

FOREHEAD LINES

Forehead lines are wrinkles that form vertical bands at the front of the head. They can appear as lines or deeper set wrinkles and will often develop with age. In addition to the structural deterioration of the skin, these folds can also be the result of repetitive muscle movements.

Our face plays a big role in expressing many emotions and facial expressions. The upper part of the face (especially the forehead) is used to frown, to show surprise, worry or joy. These movements in the frontal muscles create a groove under the skin. Over time, this groove will become permanent and form wrinkles that become deeper set as time passes.

As the ageing process affects the strength of the skin, and as the natural production of collagen and elastin begin to deplete, these two factors combined can make the formation of wrinkles appear worse. We treat many people who have forehead lines with a quick, non-invasive procedure (Botulinum Toxin injections) that can help improve the appearance of wrinkles. Botulinum Toxin injections for forehead lines work by temporarily relaxing the muscles beneath the skin, softening the appearance of lines and creases.

'One of the most common concerns I hear from patients is about hooded upper eyelids, giving them an aged and tired appearance that is completely at odds with how they feel. The great news is that a blepharoplasty procedure on the eyelids can be hugely helpful at a relatively low cost and short recovery time.'
