A mummy makeover is a term used to describe a combination of surgical procedures to help postpartum women ‘reclaim their shape’ following childbirth / breastfeeding.
The most common areas of concern following pregnancy are the breasts and abdomen, where the skin may have become stretched or muscles have weakened, as well as a loss of volume and definition to the breasts.

A mummy makeover procedure at REAL is a bespoke combination of surgeries that will best achieve your desired outcome. Procedures for the breasts may include; breast augmentation, breast lift or both, to help restore shape, volume and fullness of the breasts as well as lifting them if drooping is a concern. To address the body, procedures may include; tummy tuck, mini tummy tuck, liposuction, arm lift, buttock lift, thigh lift, fat transfer or even labiaplasty in some instances.
At The REAL Clinic, a mummy makeover is carried out under general anaesthetic. We use total intravenous anaesthesia as it has greater potential benefits compared to other forms of anaesthesia. Intravenous anaesthesia is more rapid in onset, and elimination which allows for speedier recovery. Further benefits include; increased haemodynamic stability (stabilised blood flow), decreased risk of organ toxicity, decrease in surgical haemostasis (bleeding), reduced risk of postoperative nausea and vomiting, and improved, more predictable recovery.
There is likely to be temporary numbness, swelling, bruising, tenderness and general discomfort following a mummy makeover. As this is a bespoke plan on a case by case basis, depending on the combination of treatments required the risks and outcomes will vary. These will be discussed with you at your pre-operative assessment so that you are fully informed before choosing to go ahead with your surgery/ies.
You will require a period of downtime following your procedure/s. As this is a bespoke plan on a case by case basis, depending on the combination of treatments required the associated downtime and aftercare will vary. This will be discussed with you at your pre-operative assessment so that you are fully informed before choosing to go ahead with your surgery/ies.
