Blepharoplasty Surgery
One of the most common concerns I hear from patients is about hooded upper eyelids, giving them an aged and tired appearance that is completely at odds with how they feel. The great news is that a blepharoplasty procedure on the eyelids at The REAL Clinic can be hugely helpful at a relatively low cost and short recovery time.
A Bit About Me - Mr Konal Saha
I am a Consultant Oculoplastic Surgeon. I work in the NHS and private sector, and carry out aesthetic and functional eyelid surgery at The REAL Clinic. This is my sole focus. It is quite a niche area! This means I am doing eyelid surgery day in and day out. In other words, this is all I do. I do not, for example, do eyelid procedures one day and breast surgery the next. I live and breathe oculoplastic surgery, and I am therefore one of the experts in this particular surgical field.
You can find fully trained oculoplastic surgeons such as myself on the British Oculoplastic Surgeons’ Society website:
https://www.bopss.co.uk/public-information/search-for-a-consultant/entry/1422ue/
I have been working in oculoplastic surgery for well over a decade and it remains my passion. I really enjoy connecting with patients, understanding their needs to ultimately deliver an individualised service which leaves them satisfied.
You can find out a little more about me at:
Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is one of my main surgical procedures, but as an oculoplastic surgeon, I can tweak other important cosmetic elements as well. This includes ptosis surgery, for instance, to correct a droop of the eyelid. More about ptosis surgery next time…
A Bit About Upper Blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to reshape the upper eyelid. It is what you need at The REAL Clinic if you are bothered by hooded upper eyelids for cosmetic or functional reasons. Patients often complain of heavy looking and feeling upper eyelids, a tired appearance or even restricted vision as though they are wearing blinkers. All of these complaints and problems can be simply addressed and resolved by upper blepharoplasty.
I can often do the upper blepharoplasty procedure under local anaesthetic, in other words with an awake patient and some numbing medication. Some clients like to have some sedation, and this removes the stinging sensation associated with the local anaesthetic injection given at the beginning of the procedure. The surgical procedure will normally take 45 mins to complete on both sides. Patients may go home as soon as they are comfortable and recovered following the surgery, and this is usually 1 to 4 hours later. Inevitably, there is some bruising and swelling subsequent to the procedure and there will be a fine line of stitches hidden in the crease of the upper eyelid. The vast majority of bruising and swelling will resolve within a week. The stitches I use are dissolvable, but can be removed in the first 1 to 2 weeks following the surgical procedure.
Want To Know More?
I would be delighted to discuss blepharoplasty surgery with you in a consultation at The REAL Clinic. A consultation does not commit you to having anything done. It is your opportunity to discuss your concerns and for me to present the potential options to you. No pressure at all. In fact, I won’t commit anyone to a blepharoplasty until I have had at least two consultations with them. I want you to feel informed and for you to be the driving force in decision making.
