Everything you need to know about the Non Surgical Nose Job
Until recently, if you had a misshapen nose, be that crooked, hooked or showing the presence of a bump, then you would have been forgiven for thinking that the only option to straighten, lift or reduce the size of the nose was through surgical intervention.
Thankfully we now have less invasive methods that can give the appearance of a smaller, straighter nose in as little as 15 minutes.
A surgical nose job is an extremely difficult procedure, and the costs can run into the thousands! Not only is it invasive and expensive, there is a long period of recovery, as well as pain, bruising and if that’s not enough to put you off, you can’t be 100% certain that you’ll love your new nose post procedure. These issues with a surgical nose job (rhinoplasty) exactly highlight the benefits you can enjoy with a non-surgical nose job.
A non surgical nose job is quick, affordable, free of downtime and the result is temporary. The latter of these benefits is quite possibly one of the most desirable for those thinking of undergoing rhinoplasty. If you are dissatisfied with your non surgical nose job, you can request filler dissolving which will do exactly as it says – dissolve the filler and return your nose back to its original state. With a non surgical nose job, you will be able to see the final result without the fear that you may be left with an irreversible outcome that you’re not completely happy with.
That said, if you are happy with your ‘new nose’, then you may be pleased to hear that although temporary, the results can last as long as 12-18 months. Thereafter you’ll need top ups to maintain your perfect profile.
So what is a non surgical nose job, and how does it work?
During a non surgical nose job, your practitioner will use a fine needle to administer tiny doses of dermal filler beneath the skin in strategically placed areas to help restructure and contour the nose, giving it a more desirable profile and more balanced proportions.
This is particularly helpful for people with a bump on the nose (also known as a dorsal hump), because by filling out the dips and dents in the nose, the result can dramatically improve the appearance of the nose leaving it looking straighter and in most cases, smaller too! The dermal filler injections will be used to not only straighten out the profile, but it also means that light will reflect off the nose so as not to cause shadowing and in turn, the nose will appear smaller and straighter. It’s quite scientific, huh.
In the case where the patient may have a hooked nose, your practitioner will lift the tip of the nose to help reduce the appearance of the downturned hook. This type of procedure is also known as a pixie nose lift or pixie tip lift.
